Social Programme
Our students will gain a positive and rewarding experience of British life and culture through contact with local young people, families and businesses, made possible by a range of activities such as visits to companies, lectures at the region’s universities, contacts with the local high school and with local groups and clubs. This provides plenty of opportunities to interact with others and apply classroom learning in real life situations. Relaxation and recreation aid the learning process so we offer a full and varied social programme which includes weekend excursions to the castles of Northumberland, the Roman Wall, the Farne Islands, the Holy Island of Lindisfarne, Beamish Open Air Museum, the Metro Centre (one of Europe’s largest shopping malls) and fascinating cities such as Durham and York. For a taste of Scotland, we will also visit Edinburgh.
Durham is a university city whose castle and cathedral are designated as a World Heritage Site.York, with its famous Minster and Edinburgh with its magnificent castle also have fine universities.
Our social programme also includes visits to the theatre, music concerts and the cinema. In addition we can arrange for you to participate in local clubs or evening classes, covering a wide range of subjects. |
